Doctor Tea Lassila, who specialises in skin diseases, was originally planning to specialise in general medicine, but then became fascinated by skin diseases. One of the things she finds intriguing is that just by listening to the patient and by studying and looking at the skin, you can often arrive at the correct diagnosis. She was also attracted by the versatility of the field: there is a huge number of skin diseases. She also found it interesting to be able to perform minor procedures involved in the work of a dermatologist.
Tea treats a variety of rashes, acne and sexually transmitted diseases, and also assesses moles and other skin alterations. He likes to treat patients of all ages, but children in particular. She is open and friendly by nature, and her patients have described her as an empathetic doctor who is a good listener and gets down to the bottom of things.
“Skin diseases can have a big impact on a patient’s quality of life, even if it may not be anything life-threatening. So it definitely pays to go into the trouble of working together with the patient to find the best possible treatment for them.”
