Laser treatment is an effective way to treat vascular alterations. In comparison to many other treatment options, the benefit of laser treatment is that it presents a quick, permanent solution to the problem.

Laser treatment – a cure for dark surface blood vessels, moles and other vascular alterations
Ultraviolet radiation, smoking, the use of corticosteroids, diseases such as rosacea, genetics, as well as many other factors may cause the surface blood vessels to dilate. This often makes the skin appear red and makes the veins more distinct than usual. Large, dark veins may be easily visible through thin skin, especially if the subcutaneous fat layer is not very thick.
Laser treatment of vascular alterations can be used to treat cosmetic concerns such as:
– Large, dark surface blood vessels
– Cavernous hemangiomas (a type of red birthmark, also known as strawberry naevi), cherry angiomas, spider angiomas as well as port-wine stains, a type of capillary malformation that requires more demanding treatment
– Red birthmarks
How is blood vessel laser treatment carried out, and what do I need to know in advance?
During the laser treatment, the doctor directs strong flashes of light to the blood vessel, which causes the blood to clot and blocks the vein. Eventually, the vein will be naturally and harmlessly broken down within the person’s body, causing it to disappear.
Prior to laser treatment, the person should usually book a consultation with an esthetic nurse (0€). The specialized nurse will determine the scope of necessary procedures and assess the expected level of results.
Large areas may require several treatment appointments, whereas thin, individual blood vessels or smaller areas oftentimes only require one treatment. As many as tens of cherry angiomas, for example, can be treated during the course of one regular appointment.
At the time of the procedure, the skin must not be tanned, and after the treatment has been completed, it must be protected with a +50 SPF sunscreen in order to avoid pigment alterations.

Relatively quick and easy recovery
The person can often return to work immediately after the procedure. However, after more extensive procedures it may be advisable to work from home for a few days. Another option is to make a treatment appointment right before the weekend or a holiday. Typically, the laser treatment gives the skin a reddish appearance, and larger-scale procedures may cause scabs to form here and there.
