Andrew Lindford (MBBS, PhD, docent), half British half Finnish, qualified as a doctor in 2000 in London, UK. After completing basic surgical training in London he started plastic surgery training in Norwich, UK and the world-famous Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, UK.
Andrew completed his plastic surgery training in the Helsinki University Hospital and qualified as a specialist plastic surgeon in 2010. Andrew was also awarded Fellowship of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FEBOPRAS) and completed his PhD in the Helsinki University on ‘breast cancer recurrence and reconstruction’ in 2013. Andrew has also spent 2 years completing International fellowships on Burns, Plastic Surgery and Head and Neck and skin oncology in New Zealand (Auckland and Wellington) and Glasgow, UK.
Andrew is currently head of the Helsinki National Burn Centre and includes multimodal therapies for patients with scar problems. He is a senior member in the Helsinki Head & Neck team specializing in complex reconstruction and head and neck skin cancer. He is also an integral member of the Helsinki Facial & Hand Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation (VCA) teams and has published over 60 articles on facial transplantation, microsurgery, and burn care.
At the Skin Hospital Andrew performs, among other things, removal of various skin lesions, lipomas and soft tissue tumours, scar removal and revision, surgical treatment of HS disease, and upper eyelid surgery.
