Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling and PRP treatment are light cosmetic procedures that can be used to treat ageing and other cosmetic issues, such as scars due to acne and other problems. The treatments have a natural effect on the skin’s collagen and elastin strands, making the skin healthier. PRP treatment has also been studied in the prevention of hair loss.

Before microneedling and PRP treatment, book a consultation time with a cosmetic nurse to ensure that the treatment is suitable, to discuss any alternatives, and to agree a time for the procedure.

Dermapen microneedling and mesotherapy

Microneedling is an effective way of improving the skin’s condition, and it is also suitable for rejuvenating ageing skin and softening scars, for example. Microneedling involves making microscopic holes in the skin; the resulting microtrauma initiate the skin’s own repair reaction and activate the collagen and elastin strands. In a sense, the skin overcorrects the microscopic holes, improving the condition of the skin.

For acne scars, microneedling offers an alternative and complementary treatment alongside lasers, acid exfoliation and etching. It is suitable for all skin types, with no risk of hyperpigmentation. By combining various treatments, we can find an effective treatment for each patient, making scars less conspicuous and the skin smoother.

Microneedling is often administered in combination with mesotherapy, based on which medication, such as moisturising hyaluronic acid, is injected into the skin. Microneedling temporarily enables the better absorption of treatment preparations by the skin.

PRP treatment

Microneedling can also be combined with PRP treatment, involving the injection of the body’s own growth factor into the skin. PRP is short for platelet-rich plasma. This treatment involves extracting growth factor from the patient’s blood, enriching the growth factor, and injecting it into the skin during microneedling. That is why this globally trendy treatment is also known as a vampire facelift.

The treatment seems to have a rejuvenating effect on the skin; when administered on the scalp, PRP treatment can also be used to prevent hair loss. In such cases, the growth factor is usually injected into the scalp by a doctor rather than through microneedling. There has been some research of the treatment, and evidence of its effectiveness is accumulating.
