Skin disease and allergology specialist Katariina Mähönen completed her specialisation at the Helsinki University Hospital’s Skin and Allergy Hospital, and continues to work there at the outpatient clinic in addition to her practice at the Skin Hospital. She became interested in skin diseases by their versatile nature and the visual aspect of the diagnostics process, and the need to learn more all the time.
Katariina has also done research on the connective tissue diseases of skin, and indeed it is one of her areas of expertise. She diagnoses and treats any skin problems and diseases, from the most common to the rarest type. She also likes to make mole inspections and perform small procedures, such as the removal of moles and other skin alterations, and cryotherapy.
She is quick and efficient but always takes the necessary time to listen to each patient carefully. She always ensures that the patient has understood the treatment instructions in order to achieve the best possible result. “The best thing in my work is to see the results of a successful treatment and a happy patient,” she says.
Katariina treat patients of all ages, and welcomes children and young people too.
