Mole removal with a laser

Mole removal with a laser

Laser treatment is an efficient and fast way of removing several skin alterations at once, without stitches or any significant bleeding. Seborrhoeic keratosis (brown warts) and intradermal nevi (common moles) can be removed with a laser.

Certain types of moles and many skin alterations can be treated by laser if surgery would be unnecessary and challenging. Lasers are precise and recovery is relatively fast. The advanced carbon dioxide laser at the Ihosairaala uses ultra short pulse technology and is ideal for treating the following skin alterations:

  • Seborrhoeic keratosis (brown warts)
  • Intradermal nevi (common moles), particularly in the facial area
  • Xanthelasma, or yellowish cholesterol deposits under the eyelids
  • Various cysts, such as milium cysts and hidrocystoma
  • Myxoid cysts
  • Stubborn, individual warts
  • Earlobe keloids i.e. excessive scar tissue

In most cases, a removed mole is sent for a pathological examination, to determine whether it is malignant and further treatment is necessary. The total price for mole removal generally varies between EUR 350–600, depending on the removal method and possible pathological examinations.
