Improve the quality of skin on the face and neck with Profhilo®

Profhilo is an injectable treatment that rejuvenates skin texture and restores elasticity without altering the natural shape of the face. It is suitable in particular for skin that feels dry or dull or has lost its elasticity. Profhilo is not a filler or shaping treatment, instead it is designed to improve the quality, moisture balance and elasticity of the skin.

Profhilo is a ‘bio-remodelling’ treatment, not only filling in lines, but also improving the structure of the skin throughout its different layers. What makes Profhilo truly effective as an injectable treatment is the exceptionally high concentration of hyaluronic acid and how it spreads through and activates the tissue, creating the physiological conditions needed for proliferation and organsation of cellular components.

How does Profhilo work?

Profhilo uses exceptionally pure and high concentrations of hyaluronic acid, produced by a special method based on thermal stabilisation. The process combines high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acids without chemical cross-linking, which allows formula to be safely stabilised and last longer in the tissue.

Thanks to is manufacturing process, Profhilo:

  • offers coverage over far larger areas than other treatments;
  • effectively locks moisture into the different layers of the skin;
  • stimulates the regeneration of collagen and elastin;
  • improves skin texture without an ‘over-done’ look.

The treatment is backed by a growing body of research evidence and has been shown to be both effective and well tolerated in preventing ageing-related changes in the skin of the face and neck and restoring a youthful appearance.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

For those looking for a natural improvement in the overall appearance of their skin, without altering their features, Profhilo can be a good choice. It can be considered for individuals:

  • whose skin feels dry or lifeless;
  • who have fine lines that are particularly pronounced on the cheeks or neck;
  • with reduced skin elasticity;
  • who want to achieve a natural result without shaping or adding volume;
  • who are seeking a more effective solution than topical skin treatments.

Profhilo is suitable both as a light initial aesthetic treatment and as part of a more comprehensive treatment plan. It can also be combined with options such as botulinum or filler treatments. Suitability for any treatment is always assessed on an individual basis with a Skin Hospital expert. At the Skin Hospital, we use Profhilo on the cheeks, lower face, chin and neck, but not the forehead.

How is the treatment carried out?

Profhilo is injected into the face or neck at precisely defined injection points (also known as Bio Aesthetic Points, or the BAP method). There are five points on each side of the face and ten on each side of the neck, located in anatomically receptive areas, the structures of which allow for wide distribution throughout the tissues of the face and neck. This means that the whole treatment area benefits uniformly, rather than just producing localised effects.

At the Skin Hospital, treatments are always planned individually:

  • Procedures start with a consultation with an expert to assess individual suitability for the treatment and draw up a treatment plan. (Those who are already familiar with the treatment can book an appointment directly without a consultation.)
  • A treatment appointment is booked separately and this is when injections are made into the areas to be treated. A light anaesthetic can be used prior to the injections if necessary.
  • The treatment is followed by a short follow-up and clear aftercare instructions are provided before going home.

After treatment, the injection sites may be raised and more sensitive for a few days. Swelling and redness are normal and usually subside quickly.

For the best results, we recommend a series of treatments

Profhilo is usually provided as a series of treatments to achieve the best possible effect and outcome. The recommended course of treatments is two initial treatments with a four-week gap between them, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–12 months, depending on the individual needs of the skin.

The results of the treatment develop gradually over 4–8 weeks as the skin texture changes thanks to the hyaluronic acid. Typical outcomes include smoother skin, increased hydration and firmness, and the softening of fine lines without any visible increase in volume.

When is Profhilo not an appropriate treatment?

Profhilo has been shown to be a very well tolerated treatment, but there are exceptions to this, which is why treatments start with an individual consultation. Factors that may prevent treatment include:

  • an active infection or inflammation in the area to be treated;
  • pregnancy or breastfeeding;
  • rare allergy to hyaluronic acid;
  • a skin condition that prevents the use of injectable treatments.

In these cases, an alternative treatment may be recommended on an individual basis, following an assessment by a Skin Hospital expert.

A natural way to rejuvenate your skin

Profhilo is an excellent option for achieving fresher, more rested skin with improved elasticity and no visible signs of reshaping. It is particularly suitable for use on the face and neck, where the signs of ageing are often most visible. Profhilo gives the skin a natural, rejuvenated look, for great results without looking over-done.
