Consultation for dermatologic device treatments €0

Consultation for dermatologic device treatments €0

The free consultation is intended for planning aesthetic device treatments for signs of skin aging, scars, pigmentation, skin texture and unwanted body hair. The consultation is carried out by an aesthetic nurse, who assesses the skin and suggests a suitable treatment plan. If there is an underlying skin condition, such as rosacea, active acne or actinic keratosis, treatment starts at a dermatologist’s appointment.

Consultation or a dermatologist’s appointment?

The free consultation is suitable when

  • the goal is to improve the appearance of the skin, for example wrinkles, skin laxity, skin tone or texture
  • the aim is to fade old acne scars and the acne is no longer active
  • laser hair removal is being considered
  • you would like to compare aesthetic treatment options and their prices

Book an appointment with a dermatologist first when

  • there is a skin condition or a suspected one, for example rosacea, acne, psoriasis or eczema
  • a mole or other skin alteration needs to be removed, or a change is new or has changed
  • the issue is actinic keratosis or another skin alteration caused by sun damage
  • treatment is sought because of symptoms such as redness, itching or pain

The dermatologist makes the diagnosis, starts medication if needed and writes a referral for a device treatment if one is required. A separate consultation is then not needed. A device treatment given as treatment for a medical condition with a referral is exempt from VAT.

Our skin is tested by many challenges throughout life, the traces of which can be mitigated by various methods. Many treatments also make skincare easier: when the skin is in good health, it is easier to take care of it. However, the large selection of different treatments can make finding the right treatment challenging. In a free consultation at Ihosairaala, you can go through the options with an aesthetic nurse and choose the most suitable treatment for you.

Ihosairaala’s aesthetic treatments improve the condition and appearance of the skin according to the client’s own goals. The selection includes peels, laser treatments, microneedling and photodynamic therapy. Depending on the treatment, it is performed by a cosmetologist, a nurse or a doctor.

What device treatments does Ihosairaala offer?

Treatments offered by Ihosairaala include:

  • Skin laser treatments; fractional laser, picosecond laser and vascular laser: Correct and fade scars, pigment changes and other skin irregularities. The laser can also smooth out wrinkles and make the skin more elastic. Moles and other skin alterations are always examined first by a dermatologist at a mole and skin alteration check. Treatment of redness caused by rosacea begins with a dermatologist’s assessment.
  • Laser hair removal: A fast and effective way to get rid of unwanted skin hair permanently. We use a new type of LinScan diode laser.
  • Laser tattoo removal: The laser breaks the tattoo ink into small particles, which the body gradually clears away. Several treatment sessions are usually needed.
  • Daylight PDT: Photodynamic therapy is used as an aesthetic rejuvenation treatment for photodamaged skin. When used to treat actinic keratosis and other skin alterations, PDT is performed based on a dermatologist’s assessment.
  • Microneedling: This light aesthetic procedure can treat the signs of aging and fade scars.
  • PRP treatment: The body’s own growth factors are absorbed into the skin. Usually performed in conjunction with microneedling.
  • TCA peel: Chemical peel performed by a dermatologist effectively brightens the skin and also works well in treating acne scars.
  • Cosmetologist services: The services of cosmetologists who are familiar with skin problems complement Ihosairaala’s selection of aesthetic and medical treatments.

During the consultation, you will receive an assessment from our professional nurse as to which procedures or treatments would suit you best and give the best aesthetic result. If a skin condition is suspected during the consultation, the nurse will refer you to a dermatologist’s appointment before treatments begin.

Why does device treatment for a skin condition start at a dermatologist’s appointment?

Device treatment can be part of treating a skin condition, but it does not replace a diagnosis. Redness or a patch that looks similar on the surface can have different causes, and treatment is chosen according to the cause. The dermatologist assesses whether medication, device treatment or both are needed.

In practice, the doctor’s appointment replaces the consultation. Once a referral has been written, an appointment for the device treatment can be booked directly without an intermediate step.

The referral also affects the price of the treatment. A device treatment given as treatment for a medical condition is exempt from VAT, and this always requires a doctor’s referral. The doctor writes a referral when there is a medical basis for the treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the free consultation for device treatments intended for?

The consultation is intended for planning aesthetic device treatments when the goal is to improve the appearance of the skin, for example signs of aging, scars or pigmentation. The consultation is carried out by an aesthetic nurse.

Can rosacea or another skin condition be treated with a device treatment without seeing a doctor?

No. When a device treatment is part of treating a skin condition, a dermatologist first assesses the situation and writes a referral for the treatment if needed. The doctor also assesses whether medication is needed in addition to or instead of device treatment.

Is a device treatment given as treatment for a medical condition exempt from VAT?

A device treatment given as treatment for a medical condition is exempt from VAT when there is a doctor’s referral. The doctor writes a referral if there is a medical basis for the treatment. The price of aesthetic treatments includes VAT.

Where should acne scar treatment start: with a consultation or at a dermatologist’s appointment?

A dermatologist has the best expertise to assess the type and depth of the scars and whether, for example, laser is suitable as a treatment. The doctor can write a referral and define the treatment as medical care, in which case VAT is 0%. The free consultation is suitable when the acne is no longer active and the aim is to fade old scars for aesthetic reasons.

Can a mole be removed with a laser without a doctor’s examination?

No. A dermatologist always examines moles and other skin alterations before removal so that the right removal method can be chosen.

Is a separate consultation still needed after a dermatologist’s appointment?

No. If the dermatologist writes a referral for a device treatment, an appointment for the treatment can be booked directly.

What happens if a skin condition is suspected during the consultation?

The nurse refers you to a dermatologist’s appointment before treatments begin. Device treatments can be planned after the doctor’s assessment, if they are suitable for the situation.
