Excessive sweating is an unpleasant condition, which can be treated painlessly. There are many sweat glands in the palms and feet, and their activity can be reduced with iontophoresis treatment. During iontophoresis treatment, ions in the electrical current reduce the activity of sweat glands. Hands and feet are treated by placing the affected area in a small pool of water through which a galvanic current is conducted into the body.

Iontophoresis treatment is controlled by a nurse. The treatment usually consists of 10 sessions within a period of around three weeks. The recommended treatment cycle is five sessions during the first week, followed by 2–3 treatments during the following weeks. The extent of treatment is assessed case by case and continued if necessary. One treatment session lasts for 15 minutes.
