Hanna got her medical degree in 2014, after which she specialised in dermatology and allergology at the Skin and Allergy Hospital in Helsinki, Finland. She is still working there in addition to receiving patients at the Skin Hospital.
In Hanna’s opinion, there are several aspects that make skin diseases interesting. Firstly, most people suffer from a skin condition at some point of their life, and skin diseases are one of the most common reasons for seeing a doctor. Secondly, the field is also very versatile and provides an opportunity for continuous learning, as there are so many different skin diseases, their treatment continues to develop and their diagnostics and treatment require a comprehensive set of skills.
Hanna has a wide interest in the treatment of skin diseases and is happy to take on all kinds of cases. She also performs procedures, such as mole and skin cancer removal, as well as laser therapy and cryotherapy. Hanna has been praised for her precision and diligence by patients and colleagues alike. Patients see Hanna as a doctor who is easy to approach and confide in even about more sensitive problems.
“Skin and hair have a surprisingly significant impact on our well-being, and many skin diseases do, of course, also affect appearance. For example, the effective treatment of acne can give a young person a real self-esteem boost.” For Hanna, the most motivating and rewarding part of being a dermatologist is, in fact, seeing how the condition of the patient’s skin – and with it, usually also their overall well-being – improves.
