Paula Pallasaho as a lung disease and allergology expert who specialises in asthma and allergy examinations and treatments, and allergy desensitisation treatments. Her primary job is Chief Physician at the City of Espoo. Paula already knew she wanted to be a doctor when still a child. Her greatest motivation for her dream job was her desire to help, which is still her main motivator.
“Allergology seemed the obvious choice for me. It’s a versatile field and enables you to help many people. If not properly treated, allergic symptoms and asthma reduce quality of life. Desensitisation treatments, for example, are fantastic because, unlike many other treatments, they target the mechanisms that actually cause the allergy. The tendency to suffer from allergy is reduced and the symptoms subside. The best thing about this work is interaction with the patient and finding the best means of help through discussion.”
Paula treats her patients by listening and talking to them, because she is convinced that the best treatment is chosen when the doctor and patients are in agreement. The right treatment is not automatically the same for all, this depends on the patient’s unique situation. Paula’s genuine desire to help combined with solid expertise makes her a popular doctor whom patients are eager to visit.
