Make-up artist Toni Ahonen supports the clients’ medical skin care at the Skin Hospital by using safe and appropriate makeup techniques and products. In addition, Toni offers consultations and guidance on skin make-up at the various stages of the treatment process. These services act as a supportive part of the medical skin care process and provide the client with an experience to boost their self-confidence.
Toni is a qualified make-up artist, with a special interest in and knowledge of the relationship between the skin and make-up, and of how make-up can be used to support the skin in different situations. This can mean, for example, taking into account pigmentary changes, redness, atopic skin or other skin-related challenges when applying make-up, and teaching techniques that help the client feel more confident. In Toni’s opinion, make-up has therapeutic and empowering effects. The right kind of guidance can help the client to find new ways of seeing themselves, even when the skin is going through a change.
Toni has always been fascinated by aesthetics and by how appearance can be used to express oneself as well as different stories and emotions. He built his solid foundation in skincare, customer service and products in the beauty industry first as a cosmetics salesperson and make-up artist for various brands, and later as a freelance make-up artist working on various projects, such as editorial and fashion shoots, beauty events, theatres and a wide range of TV, advertising and media productions.
Toni’s clients and colleagues describe him as an artistic, fun and positive person, but also calm and attentive to detail. When working, Toni always strives to create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, making it easy for the clients to be themselves.
“My job is a combination of technical expertise, creativity and interactive customer interaction. My goal is to always find solutions that support the client’s personal preferences and style and feel natural to them,” says Toni. “The most rewarding part of my job is seeing how even small details can make a big difference. The best moment is when the client looks at themselves in the mirror and feels beautiful and like themselves – that’s when I know I’ve succeeded.”
