Vivian Lindholm, MD, PhD, is a specialist in Dermatology and Allergology and a certified Mohs surgeon. She works in addition to Ihosairaala at HUS dermatological skin cancer unit.
Vivian graduated in medicine from the University of Helsinki and completed her doctoral dissertation on the detection of skin cancer by medical imaging and novel treatment methods for actinic keratoses. She received her Mohs surgery training at Zurich University Hospital. Vivian consults with patients in four languages.
Her areas of expertise include diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers and dermoscopy, the identification of skin lesions using a dermatoscope. She regularly provides dermoscopy training for other physicians. Mohs surgery, also known as margin-controlled surgery, enables the precise and skin-sparing removal of basal cell carcinoma with microscopic margin control.
At Ihosairaala, Vivian performs mole checks and examinations of skin lesions. When necessary, she can carry out minor procedures, such as cryotherapy or a skin biopsy, already during the first visit. In addition, she performs selected surgical and laser procedures.
